Commissioner, Karen Remley, MD, MBA, FAAP and the Virginia Department of Health would like to extend its deepest appreciation and gratitude to Jack Lanier, DrPH, MHA, FACHE, for his dedication in providing outstanding representation to the people of the Commonwealth as the chairman of the State Board of Health from July 2003 through July 2008. Dr. Lanier officially handed over the gavel to Fred Hannett. on Friday, July 18. During the time he served. Dr. Lanier lead the way on a number of initiatives that include, development and implementation of the Board's Chronic Disease Prevention Initiative, enacting numerous improvements in the Board's operations, establishing effective communication between the Board and constituent organizations, and facilitating controversial issues related to Biosoloids Regulations. In a Resolution of Commendation, Governor Timothy Kaine, wrote that Dr. Lanier's sense of duty and commitment to serve has benefited the Commonwealth and its citizens.
Dr. Lanier will continue to serve on the Board providing outstanding representation for Virginians.
