The Center for Disease Control (CDC), the Public Health Training Network (PHTN), and other agencies routinely broadcast useful training information via the satellite.
In a continuing effort to bring on-demand and up-to-date information to VDH employees and customers, the agency has secured money through a Federal Emergency Preparedness and Response grant to install one satellite dish receiver in each of our health districts. We currently have 33 satellite receivers installed. We have plans to install 5 more satellite receivers in the near future.
What is Satellite Teleconferencing?
An interactive teleconference delivered to multiple sites via satellite that includes a video-based in-depth presentation by experts with an opportunity for the audience to call in questions via telephone and receive answers.
What is the process of One-way Video, Two-way Audio Satellite Teleconferencing?
An uplink satellite facility transmits the signal into space to a specific satellite and transponder. Downlink satellite facilities at remote sites receive the signal by setting their receiver to the appropriate satellite coordinates. Two-way audio interaction is accomplished by telephone linkage from remote sites to the origination site.
