Welcome to the VDH Influenza Sentinel Surveillance webpage. Sentinel reporting for influenza begins September 28, 2014. Sentinel sites should submit two specimens per week from patients meeting the case definition for influenza-like illness.

Did you know...

In 2013, nearly 1,200 Virginians were hospitalized with a primary diagnosis of influenza. The average length of hospital stay was 4.1 days and the average charge was over $18,700. -- VHI (Virginia Health Information).
