The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children is funded through the U.S. Department of Agriculture and is available at every health department in Piedmont Health District.

Health Benefits
WIC provides high-quality nutritional care and food to our participants. The program provides milk, cheese, eggs, juice, cereal, dried beans or peas, peanut butter and iron-fortified formula that supply crucial nutrients such as protein, iron, calcium, and vitamins A and C essential to maintain health.

Are you eligible for WIC?

The Virginia WIC Program serves low-income pregnant, lactating and postpartum women and children up to age five.

What you need to bring to your appointment:

Your child or a WIC referral form that has the required medical information that is not older than 60 days from the date of your WIC appointment. WIC referral forms are available from your local health department or at most physician’s offices. Proof of income for the entire household, proof of identification for the person applying for WIC and proof of Virginia residency are required at all certification/recertification visits. Parents are also requested to bring their child’s immunization record.
