PHD maintains educational relationships with local medical, nursing, and technical schools and colleges/universities. Students can gain practical experience in clinical, administrative, and community outreach settings with opportunities for public health research and program planning work.

The health department operates a mobile van which provides public health services to residents at sites such as health fairs, schools, workplaces, recreation centers, churches, shopping centers, and neighborhoods throughout the district. Services include blood pressure screenings,
immunizations, and educational programs.
