First, TRAINVirginia is an express train…in order to use the TRAINVirginia LMS, you MUST have broadband internet access. TRAINVirginia will not work with dial-up access and some types of DSL (digital subscriber line) internet access. In order to ensure the best quality video and service from TRAINVirginia, you must have a constant throughput of 384.0 kbps. If you are not sure what your throughput is, please contact your internet service provider.
Second, in order to use TRAINVirginia, you must have the following software and/or operating systems.

A majority of the training programs the Office has posted to TRAINVirginia use streaming video. In order to be able to access the video, users are required to have Microsoft® Windows Media Player installed on their computer.
Users are encouraged to use the latest version of Windows Media Player in order to ensure access all streaming content. Users can gain access to the latest version of Microsoft® Windows Media Player by visiting the follwing web page.

Users are highly encouraged to use Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher as your browser when using TRAINVirginia. In order to ensure that Internet Explorer effectively communicates with the TRAINVirginia servers, please complete the following steps. You will only have to make these setting changes ONCE on each computer that you intend to use to access TRAINVirginia.
1. Open the Internet Explorer "Tools" menu and select "Internet Options".
2. Select the "Security" tab and click the "Trusted Sites" icon.
3. Click the "Sites" button. This will open a new window. In this window, there is a check box at the bottom. Please make sure this box, "Require server verification (https:)" for all sites in this zone, is not checked.
4. In the "Add this Web site to the zone" field, please enter *.TRAIN.org (this includes the asterisk at the beginning of the address). Click the "Add" button.
5. Click OK to return to the "Internet Options" window.
6. Select the "Trusted Sites" icon again and click the "Custom Level" button at the bottom of the window. This will open the "Security Settings" window.
7. In this window, please ensure that all options are set to either "Enable" or "Medium-Low".
8. Click OK to return to the "Internet Options" window, but do not close the "Internet Options" window.
9. In the "Internet Options" window, select the "General" tab and click the "Delete Files" button.
10. Click OK to exit out of all Internet Explorer settings windows and restart your Internet Explorer browser.
