Genetics and Newborn Screening

Reducing and preventing disabilities and death resulting from disorders detectable through newborn screening, diagnosis, and treatment, and assuring availability of follow-up genetic services for families at risk.

This unit is located within the Division of Child and Adolescent Health, Office of Family Health Services.


Care Connection for Children (CCC)

Care Connection for Children is a statewide network of centers of excellence for children with special health care needs (CSHCN). Newborns and infants diagnosed with a condition from the Virginia newborn screening panel and their families can benefit from CCC services that include care coordination, medical insurance benefits evaluation and coordination, referral to specific resources and family-to-family support.
