  • The amount of money appropriated by the General Assembly
  • Criteria set by the Nursing Scholarship Committee such as scholastic attainments, character, need, etc.

2. When is the application available for the nursing scholarship programs?

Mary Marshall Program for LPNs - May 1 thru June 30

All nursing scholarship applications are available online during the application period only.

4. Are high school and/or official college transcripts required?

Each scholarship program is specific with its requirement of high school, GED and/or college transcripts. Please be sure to pay close attention to the application requirements and the checklist that accompanies each scholarship application materials.

5. When are nursing scholarship applications reviewed?

All nursing scholarship applications are reviewed and considered by an appointed Nursing Scholarship Advisory Committee approved by the Board of Health. These committees meet every year in August.

6. Must I be accepted or enrolled in a nursing program in Virginia to be considered for a scholarship?

Yes. Eligible applicants must be accepted or enrolled in an undergraduate nursing program in the State of Virginia, which is approved by the State Board of Nursing. This information is verified in the application process.

7. How do I check my application status for the scholarship program?

All applicants to all scholarship programs are encouraged to “bookmark” the web page as communication will be provided in the Program Status Box by the office.
