Surveillance Data Systems

Maven is a web-based commercial-off-the-shelf application that will serve as the replacement of the current STD Management Information System (STD*MIS). Maven assists with division-wide data interoperability. Maven also serves as the central repository for the management of related electronic laboratory reporting (ELR) messages. Maven was implemented in the Fall of 2016.

Sexually Transmitted Disease Management Information System (STD*MIS) is a DOS-based application used for STD surveillance, STD/HIV partner services, and data management activities.

Enhanced HIV/AIDS Reporting System (eHARS) is a web-based application used for HIV/AIDS surveillance and data management.

HIV Counseling, Testing, and Referral (HIV CTR) uses EvaluationWeb for data collection regarding HIV screening initiatives. EvaluationWeb is a web-based application provided to VDH through CDC’s contract with Luther Consulting.

Virginia Electronic Disease Surveillance System (VEDSS) uses the National Electronic Disease Surveillance System (NEDSS) built and maintained by CDC to process, analyze, and securely share data received on reportable conditions. The Division of Disease Prevention (DDP) uses VEDSS for tuberculosis surveillance. VEDSS is also used for morbidity reporting associated with all hepatitis.
