Lead and Copper Rule - Short Term Revisions and Clarifications

August 8, 2008

Effective December 10, 2007, the Environmental Protection Agency adopted a new regulation dealing with lead and copper in drinking water. The Lead and Copper Rule - Short Term Revisions and Clarifications makes several changes and adds new requirements to the previously adopted Lead and Copper Rule and Lead and Copper Rule Minor Revisions. To protect the public's health and to assist waterworks owners and operators, the ODW has taken the lead in early implementation of this new regulation in Virginia. The following links provide an overview of the new rule as well as templates that waterworks owners can use to meet the consumer notification, consumer confidence report, public education, and other requirements of the new rule.
