Training & Education

 VDH employees participate in a preparedness training program that is tailored to meet public health emergency preparedness core competencies and preparedness capabilities. Training initiatives are guided by a biennial training needs assessment of employees.
Additionally, VDH works with healthcare organizations and emergency preparedness and response partners to provide training that ensure the readiness of the Commonwealth.

Highlights

Infectious Disease Self-Administered Tabletop Exercise (Exercise in a Box)

Presented by the Virginia Department of Health, in cooperation with the Virginia Department of Emergency Management, the Infectious Disease Self-Administered Tabletop Exercise contains a series of six exercise scenarios all addressing a different disease impacting the Commonwealth of Virginia. For each exercise, there are a series of documents to help local jurisdictions conduct the tabletop exercise. Each scenario is available here as a separate ZIP file.
