CDC's Interactive Core Curriculum on TB: What the Clinician Should Know (2004)
This course was designed to provide clinicians with basic information about TB, including the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of latent TB infection and TB disease. Continuing education credit is available free of charge.
CDC's Self-Study Modules on Tuberculosis (2008) are a series of educational modules designed to provide information about TB in a self-study format. The series consists of nine modules that are separated into two courses. The first course, Modules 1-5, provides basic information on TB. The second course, Modules 6-9, provides more specific TB programmatic information.

Module 1: Overview of Public Health and Public Health Nursing (pdf file)
This module provides an overview of public health, focusing on key concepts such as the definition and objectives of public health, as well as the Core Functions of Public Health. Included is a discussion of public health nursing, a brief history of the specialty and its role in the management of tuberculosis.
Module 2: Fundamentals of Tuberculosis Case Management (pdf file)
This module provides an overview of case management including a brief history and definitions as described by the American Nurses Association and the National Case Management Task Force. The elements and activities of TB Case Management are described in detail.
Module 3: Leadership Skills of the Nurse Case Manager (pdf file)
Case Management is a competency involving specific skills and knowledge. This module explores the areas of cultural competency, team building, delegation and conflict resolution.
Module 4: The Pediatric Patient (pdf file)
In Module 2, special attention was given to TB Case Management activities related to the pediatric population. This module addresses the issues in greater detail, including a comparison of childhood and adult TB, common barriers to adherence, and age-appropriate strategies.

This slide set was developed as an accompaniment to the Guidelines for the Investigation of Contacts of Persons with Infectious Tuberculosis (PDF), a joint statement by the National Tuberculosis Controllers Association and CDC. The slide set provides an overview of the current recommendations for conducting contact investigations.
