Quality Assurance

Quality assurance site visits ensure that VVFC-enrolled providers are complying with federal regulations and maintaining good immunization practices.  Four types of site visits are most commonly conducted by the VVFC Regional Consultants:

  • New Enrollment Visits: These visits are for newly enrolled providers in the VVFC program and offer basic VVFC program education. These site visits normally last under an hour.
  • VFC Only Quality Assurance Visit: These are the most common type of visit that the VVFC Consultants perform. Conducted yearly, these visits consist of a chart review, examination of vaccine storage and handling, and a quality assurance evaluation.
  • VFC/AFIX Quality Assurance Visit: These visits combine a Quality Assurance Visit with performing a mini Clinic/Provider Assessment Software Application (CASA). CASA is assessment software, developed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which is used to provide an analysis of the practice's vaccination rates.
  • Educational Visit: While all site visits are educational, these visits are completed for groups who wish to learn more about immunizations in general or the VVFC program in general.

Additional resources of practical vaccine related information can also be found at http://www.immunize.org/clinic/.  For your convenience several of these forms are available in the VVFC Toolkit. (See the Quick Links box)
