- Divison Director, Les Foldesi, retires after 26 1/2 years with VDH, effective January 1, 2012. Steve Harrision named Acting Director until recruitment for the Director position is completed.

- Effective July 1, 2010- Tanning bed operators must collect federal tax from customers. See IRS webpage.
- Definition for "Misadministration" for X-ray machines was inadvertently deleted from Regulations to address NRC radioactive materials. Program will use previously published defintion until rulemaking can be initiated and completed.. Submitted March 1, 2010

- Potassium Iodine (KI) Tablets expire August 2009, Replacement KI distributed to state and local agencies. Posted August 10, 2009
- Effective March 31, 2009 Virginia became the 36th Agreement State. The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission transferred authority for the regulation of most radioactive materials used in Virginia to the Commonwealth of Virgina. VDH's Division of Radiological Health is the radiation control agency responsible for the implementation of the Agreement.
- Published Feb 2, 2009 Final regulations- Radiation Protection Regulations: Fee Schedule 12VAC5-490. The X-ray registration/ inspection fee and radioactive materials license fee schedules are published in the Virignia Register. Posted February 2, 2009.
- U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission announces it is considering request by Virginia to become an "Agreement State". Issued November 18, 2008.

- U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is requesting states to assist with locating individuals who may have been exposed to radiation from nuclear weapons testing and in the uranium mining industry- posted June 11, 2008
