December 20, 2013:Effective today the Office of Radiological Health is implementing a credit card payment system for the Radioactive Materials Program and the X-ray program. Licensees may pay their initial application and annual license fee payments while reciprocity licensees may pay their fees using this system. X-ray registrants may pay their tube and inspection fees using this system. The page may be found at: Credit Card Payment Site. The Facility ID field for X-ray and the License Number field for Radioactive Material is looking for 5 characters to be entered. Please enter zeros (0) before your Facility ID Number and your License Number to ensure there are 5 characters entered. If you have any questions please call the Office at 804-864-8150.
November 5, 2013:Governor McDonnell completed the review of a regulation revision proposal. This revision is an update to the X-ray regulations to reflect changes to Federal regulations and new X-ray modalities in the medical field, reinsert definitions that were deleted in 2006 and update the regulations to meet current Virginia Register Form, Style, and Procedure Manual. The proposed revision will be published in the Virginia Register of Regulations on December 2nd which will begin a 60 day public comment period ending on January 31, 2014. September 3, 2013:Effective September 1st, the Division of Radiological Health was elevated to the Office of Radiological Heatlh. The Office will report to the Chief Deputy for Public Health and Preaparedness, Dr. Marissa Levine.
June 10, 2012:Steve Harrison is named as the Director of the Division of Radiological Health. Steve brings a wealth of experience to his new role in VDH. Steve has most recently served as the Statewide Hospital Preparedness Program Coordinator in VDH's Office of Emergency Preparedness since March 2010. Other positions held by Steve since he began work at VDH in 2003 as the Assistant State Planning Coordinator, Strategic National Stockpile and Exercise Coordinator, and EP&R's Central Region Planner. Prior to his VDH experience Steve worked for Dominion Resources for 23 years, where he performed nuclear emergency planning and all hazards preparedness; for eight of those years he worked at the North Anna Power Station conducting radiological surveillance and testing, and coordinating all aspects of station emergency preparedness. Steve received an MA degree in Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, with honors, from Virginia Commonwealth University. He has a Certificate iin Public Health Leadership from University of North Carolina and is a FEMA certified Master Exercise Practitioner. You may reach Steve at 804-864-8151 or Steve Harrision.
