Guidance for Health Care Entities and Health Care Professionals Seeking to Donate to the Haiti Relief Effort

There are now two sites to visit to register offers of in-kind donations. The Center for International Disaster Information (CIDI) http://www.cidi.org/incident/haiti-10a/ is one that has been operational over the past weeks. The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) has developed a new donation website with greater functionality, which may be found at www.usaid.gov.  This site allows you to search through the needs of various organizations and register your offer of assistance.  For example, you may use the drop-down menu for Need Category to select "Medical" to identify organizations requesting medical supplies. The CIDI website continues to serve as a resource on the disaster response, with links to organizations involved in the response and ways to assist.

Please keep in mind the need to continue to adhere to high quality standards for medical donations, even in the light of a disaster. The World Health Organization's Guidelines for Drug Donations may be found at http://whqlibdoc.who.int/hq/1999/who_edm_par_99.4.pdf.
