July 26, 2013
(Fredericksburg, Va.)—Recently, the Mary Washington Hospital Community Benefit Fund awarded the Rappahannock Area Health District (RAHD) a $23,950 grant for the purchase of a portable ultrasound machine.
The portable ultrasound will assist the Health District in performing certain gynecological and prenatal procedures at the its offices, instead of requiring the patient to have a procedure done elsewhere. This will reduce stressand increase comfort and convenience for the patient; it will also remove the barrier of transportation and additional expense. The Health District plans to use the portable ultrasound for observing fetal presentation and intrauterine device location.
