They have the latest information on HIV and other diseases, as well as good resources for other health matters.

Fluoride Additives Supply Update - CDC has added Frequently Asked Questions concerning shortages of fluoride products shortages. Please see http://www.cdc.gov/Fluoridation/fact_sheets/engineering/wfadditives.htm.

NSF International - NSF is an independent, not-for-profit organization committed to public health safety and protection of the environment.

NSF Environmental Technology Verification (ETV) Center - NSF ETV Center provides independent performance evaluations of drinking water technologies.

The U.S. House of Representatives Internet Law Library Code of Federal Regulations (searchable) - A good source for keeping up with Federal Regulations. You can bookmark searches for re-use.

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency - The EPA main page, with lots of great resources. You may also go directly to the EPA Office of Ground Water and Drinking Water.

The EPA also maintains a Surf Your Watershed Web site, including their new Index of Watershed Indicators, which keeps tabs on the threats to local watersheds.

Mountain Empire Community College (MECC) - MECC provides an enriching distance learning resource for waterworks operators. MECC also offers an on-line, degree producing program for waterworks operators. Eligible students can receive scholarship assistance from the Health Department for this course of study.

Virginia Ground Water Protection Steering Committee - The GWPSC provides information to citizens, industry, officials, students and others about the use and management of Virginia's ground water resources.

Underwriters Laboratories Environmental & Public Health Home Page - Underwriters Labs offers certification for all sorts of things, including drinking water systems.

American Water Works Association - The AWWA is a trade organization dedicated to safe drinking water. There's a page just for Virginia.

The Foundation for Cross-Connection Control and Hydraulic Research at University of Southern California - The Foundation is considered by many to be the world's authority in the field of cross-connection control.

USGS -- Water Resources of the United States - The U.S. Geological Survey provides the nation with reliable, impartial information to describe and understand the Earth.

National Drinking Water Clearinghouse - NDWC assists small communities by collecting, developing, and providing timely information relevant to drinking water issues.

Water Environment Federation  - The WEF is a not-for profit technical and educational organization, dedicated to preserving and enhancing the global water environment.
