Nursing Scholarships
The following nursing scholarship programs are administered by the Office of Minority Health and Public Health Policy. These scholarship awards are highly competitive. Applications are accepted from May 1-June 30. Scholarships are awarded for single academic years.

Mary Marshall Nursing Scholarship Program for Licensed Practical Nurses
Applicant Eligibility:
- Residency in VA for at least 1 year
- Acceptance/enrollment as a full-time or part-time student in a practical school of nursing in VA
- Submitted a complete application and recommendation from Program Director
Mary Marshall Nursing Scholarship Program for Registered Nurses
Applicant Eligibility:
- Residency in VA for at least 1 year
- Acceptance/enrollment as a full-time or part-time student in a practical school of nursing in VA
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 in required courses, not electives
- Demonstration of financial need, verified by financial aid office at school
- Submission of a complete application and official transcript
Virginia's Nurse Practitioner Nurse Midwife Scholarship Program
Applicant Eligibility:
- Residency in VA for at least 1 year
- Acceptance/enrollment as a full-time or part-time student in a practical school of nursing in VA
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0
- Submission of a complete application, official transcript, 2 reference letters, and a statement of intent to practice as a nurse practitioner/nurse midwife in an underserved area of VA following graduation
