Having a Baby as a Teenager
Having a Baby as a Teenager brings about lots of changes. The Resource Mother will provide a combination of social support, education, and practical assistance as the teen experiences the crisis of a teen pregnancy and makes the transition to parenthood. Resource Mothers share their knowledge about community resources, pregnancy, parenting, child development, and healthy relationships to name some of the topics covered in our curriculum. The Resource Mother visits with the pregnant teen at least twice monthly at a time that is convenient for the teen. She provides information and helps the teen plan for her medical appointments, prepare for the new baby’s arrival, learn ways to keep herself and her baby healthy and develop plans for the future such as furthering her education or preparing for employment. After the baby is born, the Resource Mother will continue to visit until the baby is one year old.
Resource Mothers also accepts gently used or new baby items and clothes.
