When: Tuesday, May 24, 2022
Time: 7:00 PM
Where: Amphitheater at Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital, 500 Martha Jefferson Drive, Charlottesville, Va. Free parking.
About the event:
Join us for remembering loved ones and community members we have lost to COVID-19, and to honor our experience of grief and loss. This memorial is free and appropriate for all ages. It will provide time for reflection and a symbolic lighting of luminaries to represent our loved ones or community members lost to COVID. There will be chaplains and grief and mental health counselors on site to share information about community resources.
What to bring:
Limited seating is available, so participants are invited to bring camping chairs or blankets to sit on. This is an outdoor event, so please dress comfortably, and bring umbrellas, sun hats, or anything else you may need. Please, no pets allowed. Service animals are welcome.
There will be ample parking. Please follow the signage for the short paved walk to the amphitheater area where the event will happen.
Restrooms are available a short walk from the amphitheater in the Cancer Center.
We are holding the event rain or shine, unless there is danger due to extreme weather. In the case of extreme weather, we will update the website, which is accessible through the QR code on the event flyer.
For more information about grief during:
Hospice of the Piedmont is offering a virtual workshop on Healing Through Our Losses on May 25th at 7PM. The presentation will share insight about the layers of loss we have experienced over the last two and a half years, and will explore ambiguous loss, coping strategies and ways to help others heal from loss.
