What is a congregate setting?
A congregate setting is a place where many people reside, meet, or gather in close proximity for a limited or extended period of time. Examples of congregate settings include homeless shelters, group homes, prisons, and detention centers. These facilities must implement activities to minimize the impact of COVID-19 in their settings.
Resources and guidance for various congregate settings are available below. The Virginia Department of Health has created guidance and requirements for nursing homes and adult care facilities specific to COVID-19 that are available on the Virginia Long-Term Care Task Force page.
