Veterinarians

Veterinary facilities have unique characteristics that warrant unique infection control considerations. This page provides resources and considerations for veterinarians and their staff who may be treating or advising on animal medical care during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since each workplace setting and situation associated with a COVID-19 response is different, discuss the latest guidance and options for your practice setting with your local health department.

The Virginia Department of Health Businesses page also contains great resources designed to assist veterinary practice owners and staff with a wide range of COVID-19 prevention and response strategies, including guidance for employer COVID-19 case reporting, which can be found as part of the “Employer Responsibilities” tab at the bottom of the Businesses page.
