You can request these records in-person at either health department or through the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/vital-records\/applications-for-a-vital-record\/\">online Vital Records application<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>You must show an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/vital-records\/id-requirements\/\">accepted form of photo ID<\/a> to request a vital record. Vital records can only be given to immediate family members, including a mother, father, current spouse, child, brother, sister, or grandparent with valid ID. Aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, and others cannot receive these records.<\/p>\n<p>The cost is $12.00 for each record search. This fee is required by Virginia law and is not refunded if the record is not found. There is no fee for a Certificate of Birth Resulting in Stillbirth.
