See below for more information and how to apply.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To search for other current job postings or to complete an easy online application, please use the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jobs.virginia.gov\/jobs\/search\">Virginia Jobs site<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Environmental Health Technician (Seasonal)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We are seeking a detail-oriented individual to perform seasonal water quality monitoring and facility inspections. This role ensures public safety by monitoring\u00a0public\u00a0beaches,\u00a0public pools,\u00a0and marinas in compliance with state health regulations and established monitoring plans. This position is offered at $20.00 per hour. Successful candidate must have a valid Driver\u2019s License and successful background check.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0Key Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Water Quality Monitoring:<\/strong>\u00a0Collect water samples from public bathing beaches and other exposure sources on a weekly basis. Calibrate and operate scientific meters and probes to perform field tests.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Regulatory Compliance:<\/strong>\u00a0Interpret field data against minimum water quality standards. Under the technical direction of senior Environmental Health staff, determine the necessity for beach closures or swimming advisories.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Public Notification:<\/strong>\u00a0Draft and issue Public Service Announcements (PSAs) regarding beach health status. Physically post and remove swimming advisory signage at beach locations as water quality dictates.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Reporting:<\/strong>\u00a0Maintain accurate documentation and technical reports. Formally report findings to the relevant government agencies responsible for beach management.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sanitary Inspections:<\/strong>\u00a0Conduct inspections of marinas and boat moorings to ensure compliance with the\u00a0<em>Sanitary Regulations for Marinas and Boat Moorings<\/em>\u00a0of the Virginia Health Laws. Verify the availability and functionality of required boat holding tank pump-outs and dump stations.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Public Pool Inspections:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>Conduct inspections of public pool to ensure compliance with the\u00a0<em>Regulations Governing Tourist Establishment Swimming Pools and Other Public Pools.<\/em>\u00a0 Identifies public health threats specific to aquatic venues.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0Required Skills and Abilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ability to follow strict sampling protocols and scientific testing criteria.<\/li>\n<li>Competency in using and maintaining scientific field equipment.<\/li>\n<li>Strong written communication skills for drafting official notifications and technical reports.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work independently in outdoor field environments and adhere to a rigorous weekly schedule.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Pay Rate: $20.00 per hour<\/p>\n<p>Send resumes to: William.Pfeiffer@vdh.virginia.gov<\/p>\n<p>Deadline to apply: 11:55PM on Tuesday, May 12, 2026<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We are currently hiring an Environmental Health Technician (Seasonal).
