Mpox Training for Healthcare Providers is a four-hour training which will provide an educational training opportunity for participants to learn about updated information and lessons learned from the 2022 mpox outbreak nationally and in Virginia.\u00a0 Following this training, clinicians will improve their knowledge and be able to incorporate best practices and lessons learned to address the ongoing mpox outbreak and help end person to person transmission of this infection.\u00a0 Continuing Education (CE) credit is offered for this educational training.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

The following will be explored in the training.<\/p>\n

(1) Describe the epidemiology of the mpox outbreak in the U.S., the risk of reemergence of mpox, and identify the provider's role in efforts to eliminate mpox in the U.S.<\/p>\n

(2) Describe prevention and control strategies for mpox, including recognition of mpox symptoms, how and when to test, and vaccination.<\/p>\n

(3) Summarize treatment options for mpox and describe how to access treatment for patients with mpox.<\/p>\n

(4) Identify strategies to increase vaccination in eligible people by addressing vaccine hesitancy.<\/p>\n

(5) Describe strategies to incorporate mpox testing and vaccination into routine HIV\/STI testing and care.<\/p>\n

(6) Examine communication strategies which stress the significance of patient sensitivity and awareness.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

The intended audience includes healthcare providers<\/strong><\/em>, particularly clinicians who care for patients who are at higher risk of getting mpox or patients that might be eligible for mpox vaccination. Examples include clinicians who provide HIV care or STI services.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>
