Localized Projects Application<\/strong>: The Virginia Department of Health\u2019s Wastewater Surveillance (WWS) Team has received CDC BP3 grant funding to invest in localized WWS monitoring projects for SARS-CoV-2. These Localized Projects can assist local health departments in assessing the COVID-19 disease burden and variant prevalence in their community. WWS is a collaborative process that integrates stakeholders from the entire community, including wastewater utilities, research, policy, government, and more. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions at rekha.singh@vdh.virginia.gov.<\/p>\n

Total funds are estimated to support a cumulative 600 samples, which must be applied toward any number of specific Localized Projects. Any group in Virginia can apply for any number of sample funding. Funding for these projects may partially or fully cover expenses for sample laboratory analysis and shipping, but generally does not include the labor and time costs for sample collection. Please complete an application for each project to be considered using the Microsoft Form available at this link<\/a>. Please reach out if you have any questions at rekha.singh@vdh.virginia.gov.<\/p>\n

As part of their cooperative agreement with CDC, WEF is providing autosamplers at no cost to at least 225 small utilities, including those in rural and tribal regions. Please see the program invitation (attached) for more information and instructions on how to submit an application. \u00a0Please contact Lisa McFadden (lmcfadden@wef.org<\/a>) with any questions.<\/p>\n

CDC Commercial Contract<\/strong>: CDC<\/span>\u00a0has contracted with a\u00a0commercial<\/span> laboratory to initiate monitoring for SARS-CoV-2 at wastewater treatment plants not currently involved in a state monitoring program.\u00a0 If you are interested, please contact Verily<\/a>.<\/p>\n
