According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/med.virginia.edu\/brpc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/274\/2024\/10\/CO-POISONING-2024.pdf\">Blue Ridge Poison Control Center<\/a>, <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">CO kills around 500 people annually<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, with many more suffering from related injuries. Portable generators, especially when used too close to homes, are the leading cause of CO fatalities.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">CO is undetectable by sight or smell<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, so people may not realize they are being exposed.
