Personal protective equipment (PPE) is equipment (like gowns, gloves, eye protection, and respirators) that protects healthcare workers from exposures in the workplace. PPE provides physical barriers that prevent the hands, skin, clothing, eyes, nose, and mouth from coming in contact with infectious agents.
