The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Washington Field Division (WDO) is responsible for conducting investigations and collecting intelligence related to the importation, distribution, and abuse of controlled substances in, and with connections to Virginia, Washington D.C., and Maryland. Availability and abuse of these drugs are high, with opioids being the most prevalent in major cities and methamphetamine in rural areas. Crafting initiative and strategies to address drug supply, demand and misuse requires timely and actionable information and data, which this presentation intends to provide.
