Care System for Immigrants, Refugees and Migrants<\/strong> is a set of books to help non-English speaking newcomers to the United States learn about the U.S. health care system.<\/p>\n<p>New arrivals from other countries are often confused by the differences between the U.S. health care system and that of their home countries.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><strong>View our instructional video educators.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Navigating Resource Guides in English, Spanish, Vietnamese, Arabic, and Russian can be downloaded from this website by clicking on your language preference.<\/p>\n<p>To bridge the information gap <strong>Navigating Through the U.S. Health Care System for Immigrants, Refugees and Migrants<\/strong> was created with the following components:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Newcomer&#8217;s Guide, an introductory handbook on the U.S. Health Care System <strong>(<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/content\/uploads\/sites\/76\/2016\/06\/newcomers-english-1.pdf\">English<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/content\/uploads\/sites\/76\/2016\/06\/newcomers-spanish.pdf\">Spanish<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/content\/uploads\/sites\/76\/2016\/06\/final-Arabic-Book.pdf\">Arabic<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/content\/uploads\/sites\/76\/2016\/06\/Final-Vietnamese-1.pdf\">Vietnamese<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/content\/uploads\/sites\/76\/2016\/06\/Final-russian-book1-guts.pdf\">Russian<\/a>)<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Resource Guide, a directory to Health Care Facilities and Information in the State of Virginia<strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/content\/uploads\/sites\/76\/2016\/06\/resources-english.pdf\">English<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/content\/uploads\/sites\/76\/2016\/06\/resources-spanish.pdf\">Spanish<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/content\/uploads\/sites\/76\/2016\/06\/Final-Arabic-Book-Guts2.pdf\">Arabic<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/content\/uploads\/sites\/76\/2016\/06\/final-Vietnamsesbook2.pdf\">Vietnamese<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/content\/uploads\/sites\/76\/2016\/06\/FinalRussianbook2.pdf\">Russian<\/a>)<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Teaching curriculum about how to use these materials has also been developed for community organizations and faith-based groups working with refugees, immigrants, and migrants.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Both guides are available in English, Spanish, Arabic, Russian and Vietnamese.<\/p>\n<p>Each has been specifically researched and written with culturally appropriate perspectives and explanations relevant to each of the four newcomer populations.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to answering questions such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Where to get care<\/li>\n<li>Who gives care<\/li>\n<li>How to pay for care<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It includes information about the socio-cultural components of health care:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Explains the importance of asking health providers questions<\/li>\n<li>Explains why appointments are necessary<\/li>\n<li>Explains what to expect from a U.S. caregiver<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/health-equity\/newcomers-guide\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\"
