This indicator reports the percentage of adults in Virginia who are current smokers. Current smokers are defined as people who reported smoking at least 100 cigarettes in their lifetime and now smoking every day or some days. Smoking leads to disease and disability and harms nearly every organ of the body. Tobacco use is the leading cause of preventable disease, disability, and death in the United States.

This indicator reports the percentage of adults ages 18 and older in Virginia who report having one or more days of poor health keeping them from usual activities during the past 30 days. It measures the general health status through the lens of the current activity limitation an individual may have in his or her life.
