VDH recommends vaccination for people who have been exposed to mpox and people who may be more likely to get mpox. For more information on the mpox vaccine, call your local health department or visit https://www.vdh.virginia.gov/monkeypox/vaccination/

Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) for HIV helps prevent HIV for individuals who don't have HIV but are exposed to the virus through sex or by sharing needles to inject drugs.  If you are at risk, call your local health department and schedule an appointment to determine if PrEP is right for you.  Services are available through the local health department for those without health insurance, and most insurance plans and state Medicaid programs cover PrEP.
