“Knowing how to use naloxone and keeping it within reach can save a life,” said U.S. Surgeon General Jerome Adams, M.D., for patients taking prescribed opioids, those misusing prescription opioids, those using illicit opioids such as heroin or fentanyl, health care practitioners, family and friends of people with an opioid use disorder, and community members who come into contact with people at risk for opioid overdose.

“I encourage everyone to attend this training, especially those who have a loved one experiencing addiction, or people who use opioids,” said Breanne Forbes Hubbard, population health manager, Mount Rogers Health District. “We look forward to training our community on this critical intervention.”

Free Narcan© (a brand name for naloxone) will be available to those who complete the training
