New Testing Events in Cumberland Plateau Health District

(Lebanon, Va.) – The Virginia National Guard will be conducting mass COVID-19 testing events in the Cumberland Plateau District December 15-17 as a result of high regional positivity rates.

These events are free, open to the public, and do not require an appointment or advance registration. Testing will be at all sites from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Virginia National Guard is only able to test those 16 and older.

“People should get tested if they have been in any situation that may have placed them at risk of infection, even if no symptoms as testing may identify people infected who can spread the infection further if they do not know of their positivity,” said Dr. Sue Cantrell, Director of Cumberland Plateau Health District.

“It is safest to avoid gathering with anyone outside of your household over the upcoming holidays,” continued Dr. Cantrell.  “However, if you plan to gather anyway, please protect your loved ones by getting tested and then staying home until you gather.  We strongly advise people to wear masks, socially distance and practice good hand hygiene today and throughout this period of time.”

Testing site information:

  • Tuesday, 12/15, Riverview Elementary School, 27382 Riverside Dr, Grundy
  • Wednesday, 12/16, Lebanon High School, 105 Charles C Long Dr, Lebanon
  • Thursday, 12/17, Tazewell County Fairgrounds, 515 Fairground Rd, Tazewell
