PITTSYLVANIA/DANVILLE HEALTH DISTRICT HOLDS COVID-19 VACCINATION CLINIC AT AVERETT UNIVERSITY
(DANVILLE, Va.) – The Virginia Department of Health’s Pittsylvania/Danville Health District and Averett University, with the support of local COVID-19 response partners, will hold a COVID-19 vaccination clinic Saturday, August 21 at Averett University Student Center, 204 Woodland Drive in Danville. From West Main Street, turn onto Woodland Avenue. The Student Center is located on the corner of Woodland Avenue and Townes Street, with an available parking lot across from the Student Center.
This clinic is focused on the K-12 vaccination needs, but will be open to all. Pfizer, Moderna and J&J vaccines will be available. The clinic will start at 9 a.m. and go until 1 p.m.
This “point of dispensing” (POD) event is to provide the opportunity for those 12 and up to receive a COVID-19 vaccination. Those under 18 must have a parent or legal guardian present.
“With the rise in COVID-19 cases due to the Delta variant, we strongly encourage everyone to get vaccinated. The COVID-19 vaccines are designed to reduce severe illness, hospitalization and death.” said Scott J. Spillmann, MD, MPH, health director, Pittsylvania/Danville and Southside Health Districts.

English- and Spanish-speaking operators are available. Translation services also are available, in more than 100 languages.
“We also ask that everyone who attends the POD continue to follow the three Ws: Wear a mask, Watch your distance (stay at least six feet apart) and Wash your hands,” Dr. Spillmann continued. “We will have areas for waiting at safe distances both before and after vaccination, and have arranged more private vaccination areas for those with special needs. We ask all who are to be vaccinated to please wear ‘vaccine ready’ clothing if possible (giving easy access to your upper arm) and that you arrive at your appointed time and bring the CDC vaccination card given to you with your first dose, or driver’s license or other documentation confirming your identity.”
