Virginia Department of Health to Open Community Vaccination Center in Fredericksburg for Booster Shots

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. — Today, the Virginia Department Health (VDH) announced that a state-run Community Vaccination Clinic (CVC) will open October 21, 2021 in the former Home Gallery store located in Central Park Marketplace: 1877 Carl D. Silver Pkwy., Fredericksburg, 22401.

“Public health represents all of the things we have to do as a society to keep our civilization thriving and healthy. America has a strong public health system, which led to the rapid development of the vaccine to address a new threat in the virus that causes COVID-19,” said Dr. Olugbenga Obasanjo, Director for the Rappahannock Area Health District. “I look forward to the launching of the CVC in our district, allowing us to continue a strong tradition of leadership that allows us to protect and promote health, to expand economic opportunity, and to further the pursuit of health and happiness for all members of our community.”

Any Virginian 65 years and older, or those 18 and above who have underlying medical conditions or live or work in a high risk setting, and who received the second dose of their Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine 6 months or more ago are invited to make an appointment for a free booster vaccination with the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine In addition, individuals who need to receive their first or second dose of any vaccine (Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna or Johnson and Johnson), or those who are immunosuppressed and need a third dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccine may also receive them at no cost at the Fredericksburg site.

FREE COVID-19 Vaccinations: The Fredericksburg location will be offering vaccination appointments from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

While appointments are encouraged, walk-ins will also be accepted.

Those who have an appointment should plan to arrive no earlier than 20 minutes prior to the appointment time.  Anyone who has received a prior COVID-19 vaccine should bring their vaccine card or their vaccine record with a QR code.
