Mount Rogers Health District Offers COVID-19 Vaccines in Local Health Departments, Mobile Clinics

(Marion, Va.) – Mount Rogers Health District is transitioning COVID-19 vaccine efforts from large, fixed-site community clinics to local health department offices and mobile vaccine clinics.

“We are so grateful to our community partner vaccine sites who have hosted us for the last six months,” said Dr. Karen Shelton, health director of the Mount Rogers Health District. “Health department staff have administered more than 50,000 vaccines in our community clinics, and we could not have done this without the dedicated support of these sites and their staff.”

Community vaccine clinic hosts included Bristol Public Library, Bristol Highlands Fellowship Church, Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center, Marion First Baptist Church, Chilhowie Christian Church, Marion Veterans of Foreign Wars post, Wytheville Meeting Center, Wolf Creek Indian Village & Museum, Hillsville Pentecostal Holiness Church, Galax Recreation Center, Independence Fire Department, and Grayson County High School.

Mobile vaccine clinics will offer primarily Johnson & Johnson, but Pfizer upon request. Walk-ups are welcome at mobile clinics. The weekly mobile vaccine schedule can be found at or on the district’s Facebook or Nextdoor pages on social media. To schedule a mobile vaccine clinic in your community, please call 276-781-7450.

Local health departments will offer Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson vaccines. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins can be accommodated. Please call the local health department to schedule an appointment.
