Norfolk Health Department Offers Free COVID-19 Vaccines During Hispanic and Latino Heritage Month Event on October 2
NORFOLK, Va. – In celebration of Hispanic and Latino Heritage Month, the Norfolk Department of Public Health is offering free COVID-19 Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson vaccines on Saturday, Oct. 2 from 12 – 2 p.m. at Oceanview Park, at 100 W. Oceanview Ave. in Norfolk.
The Norfolk Department of Public Health’s mobile vaccine unit will be onsite during the Hispanic and Latino Heritage Month event, which is open to the public, to offer the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine (first and second dose) for anyone 12 and older and the one-dose Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine to anyone 18 and older. No appointments are needed and walk ups are welcomed. During the family-friendly event, individuals can enjoy live music, cultural dances and bounce houses.
“The Norfolk Department of Public Health supports the important history and persistent contributions of the Hispanic and Latino community in Norfolk and throughout the Hampton Roads region,” said Dr. Parham Jaberi, acting district health director for Norfolk and Portsmouth. “We are pleased to have the Norfolk mobile unit at this significant event to help our Latino communities and the Virginia Department of Health achieve vaccination efforts.”
CDC guidelines recommend continuing to wear a mask correctly, staying at least six feet from others outside of your household, avoiding crowds and poorly ventilated spaces, and washing your hands often.
