Pittsylvania/Danville Health District Announces Mobile Vaccination Clinic Schedules and Locations
(DANVILLE, Va.) — The Virginia Department of Health’s Pittsylvania/Danville Health District, in coordination with the Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM) and other supporting partners, has announced the dates and locations of its first week of mobile vaccination clinics.
These mobile clinics will offer free COVID-19 vaccines for those ages 18 and up in a series of smaller and more local clinics, primarily in rural and underserved areas where vaccine access can be challenging. They are designed to reach unvaccinated Virginians at times and places that are closer and more convenient.
The dates, times and locations of these mobile clinics are attached.
“We are proud to partner with VDEM, VDH, Elite and Greene Street, and are thankful for all our locality partners for supporting this endeavor,” said Scott Spillmann, M.D., M.P.H, director, Pittsylvania/Danville Health District. “It is but one of several strategies to help all our community members to receive the vaccine, but we consider this an important one. It is as close as we have been able to get so far to where people work, live, play and pray.”
These vendor-operated, mobile vaccination clinics will move from place to place to support local health department efforts in the Pittsylvania/Danville Health District and across the state.
These mobile clinics will offer the one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine, thus eliminating the need for a mobile clinic to have to return to a particular area for second-dose shots. “All three of the approved vaccines have received incredible scrutiny for safety and effectiveness, both scientifically and publically; J&J has received perhaps the greatest scrutiny of all,” said Dr. Spillmann. “It has an effectiveness of approximately 70 percent, it is considered safe for virtually everyone; and it requires only one dose. As with any immunization, should you have questions, please consult your personal healthcare provider first.”
