Henrico County Health Department Conducts Free Flu Clinics

The Virginia Department of Health’s (VDH) Henrico County Health Department will be giving free flu shots, rain or shine, to people age three and over on a limited first-come, first-serve basis, at the following locations:

  • Wednesday, October 23, 2013, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Oakland Village Apartments Community Center
1400 Old Bronze Drive, Henrico VA 23231

  • Thursday, October 24, 2013, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Essex Village Apartments Community Center, 117 Engleside Drive, Henrico, VA 23222

Influenza or “the flu,” is a highly-contagious respiratory disease.  Typical flu symptoms include fever, dry cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, headache, muscle aches, and fatigue.

Annual vaccination is especially recommended for the following high-risk groups:

  • Persons at high risk for complications: children ages six months HenricoHenricoto five years, people 50 years of age or older, pregnant women, people with certain chronic medical conditions, and people who live in nursing homes or other long term care facilities.
  • People who live with or care for those at high risk for complications: household contacts of persons at high-risk, caregivers of children less than six months of age, and health care workers.
