(Henrico, Va.) – The Henrico County Health Department is currently in the process of conducting a Community Health Assessment (CHA) to better understand the life and health of residents in the community. A CHA reviews the environment and resources where people live, work, learn and play.

“Along with many other counties and cities across Virginia, Henrico County is on a quest to understand how to best serve its residents and improve health outcomes within all populations. Over the next several months, the health department, in collaboration with many community stakeholders, will work to identify key priority areas and create a plan to help improve health and quality of life for Henrico residents”, said Health Director Susan Fischer Davis, M.D.  “We want to hear thoughts and opinions from as many people as possible to learn about what really matters to each person so we can develop a plan to make positive changes to improve quality of life and health”.

In an effort to gain qualitative data, the stakeholder team has developed a CHA survey to form a better understanding of community issues, concerns and perceptions of quality of life across the county. The survey launched March 1 and will remain open until May 1, 2017.

The survey is one point on a multi-phase roadmap towards improving our community’s health. In the fall of 2017, goals and objectives for each of the priority health issues identified from the CHA will be developed. Become involved and help Henrico reach their vision for success, “A community where opportunities to make healthy choices are embraced, prioritized, and promoted for everyone in Henrico”.
