Chickahominy Health District and Partner Agencies Kick-Off New Kent County Community Health Survey

NEW KENT, Va. – The Chickahominy Health District and the New Kent Community Health Assessment (CHA) Steering Committee are seeking the community’s input via survey to better understand the health-related topics most important to the people living and working in the community. The Steering Committee is a group of representatives from several local and regional organizations including New Kent Fire-Rescue, New Kent Parks and Recreation, Thrive VA, Department of Social Services, New Kent County Public Schools, and many more.

Beginning today, those who live and/or work in New Kent County are invited to visit to share their perspectives on key factors that impact their community’s overall health and well-being. The survey may be completed in English or Spanish.

“Hearing directly from those who live, work, play, and worship in New Kent is the best way to learn about what matters most to them when it comes to their health and wellness,” said Dr. Tom Franck, Health Director of Chickahominy Health District. “The information gathered will help shape solutions, form new partnerships, strengthen existing partnerships, and launch initiatives to address the community’s high priority needs.”

This ten minute survey will aid in determining the local issues to prioritize related to health and well-being. In addition to the survey, there will be other ways over the next several months for community members to provide input and review health related data.

“We need the community’s help in deciding which direction to go. That’s why I urge residents to assist us by taking a few minutes to complete the survey,” said Suzanne Grable, Director of Social Services in New Kent County.

The survey asks for input on various topics such as: access to care, mental health, quality of life, community belonging, and transportation. Responses are gathered anonymously. The information provided by the respondents will be compiled in a report that will be released at the end of the year.
