Release of the New Kent County Community Health Assessment Report
NEW KENT, Va. – The Chickahominy Health District and partner agencies are pleased to announce the release of the New Kent County Community Health Assessment (CHA) report. The report can be viewed online at: www.vdh.virginia.gov/chickahominy/community-health-assessment/. This report details population-level health indicators, identified local assets, and health priorities for the county.
“The Community Health Assessment is a collaborative process which gives organizations, community leaders, and community members comprehensive information on the health of the county. This information will be the backbone for the next phase of the process – developing a Community Health Improvement Plan based on the areas identified as priorities for the future,” stated Emily Hines, Population Health Planning & Improvement Coordinator for the Chickahominy Health District. “We are grateful to everyone who was involved in the assessment, including the CHA Steering Committee, and we look forward to developing and implementing a robust plan that builds on the great things already happening in New Kent County.”
This is the first time the Chickahominy Health District, and approximately 15 local organizations, have partnered to complete a CHA. The information was gathered by collecting data, distributing a community-wide survey, facilitating focus groups, and holding key informant interviews in order to provide a comprehensive picture of New Kent County’s health status, quality of life, and health priorities.
New Kent County community members can send their public comments regarding the report to: CHDWellness@vdh.virginia.gov by January 22, 2023.
