Southside Health District Celebrates National Public Health Week
by Hosting Open Houses
April 6 through 12 is National Public Health Week
CHASE CITY, Va — On April 9, 2026, the Southside Health District (SSHD) will be hosting open houses at its district offices. The open house events are from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. as part of the National Public Health Week.
“Stop by and chat with our staff, learn more about what we do and take a closer look” said Scott Spillmann, MD MPH, Director of Pittsylvania Danville & Southside Health Districts. “We are here to help you receive the public health resources you need. National Public Health Week is a time in America that celebrates public health achievements, raises awareness about health issues, and honors public health professionals. It’s also a great time for a public health check-up.”
SSHD is proud to continue this tradition and invites you to join us in this celebration. Please come visit one of our Southside Health District offices at:

Rapid Revive training with free Narcan will be available at the health department offices of Brunswick, Halifax, and both Mecklenburg County offices. Rapid REVIVE teaches you how to recognize and respond to an opioid overdose emergency using naloxone. The program is designed to educate people on the signs of an overdose and the importance of naloxone to reserve the opioid.
