Bedford Countywide Rabies Clinics

April 1, 2011

(BEDFORD, Va.) – The Central Virginia Health District announces countywide rabies clinics on Saturday, April 9, 2011 in Bedford County. The rabies clinics are supported by the Bedford Humane Society, Bedford County Sheriff’s Office Animal Control, and local Bedford County veterinarians. The cost for vaccination is $5.00 per animal, cash only.

Protect your family by having your dogs and cats regularly vaccinated for rabies. Virginia law requires all dogs and cats four months or older be vaccinated to prevent rabies. Rabies is a deadly disease and not properly vaccinating your pet against rabies can be very traumatic for both the owner and the pet.

In order to be vaccinated, dogs must be on a leash, while cats and ferrets must be in carriers. If your pet has had a previous rabies vaccination, you must bring proof of vaccination to obtain the three-year vaccine. The ID tag on your pet’s collar is not proof. At each of the eight locations, please remain in your car and clinic staff will come to you to vaccinate your pet.

The schedule for the rabies clinics on April 9, 2011 is as follows.
