“Women’s Afternoon Out” Supports Breast And Cervical Cancer Awareness

(CHRISTIANSBURG, Va.) – The American Cancer Society’s New River Valley Breast Health Team is hosting “Women’s Afternoon Out”. This fun and informative event will be held on Tuesday, May 3, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the Pulaski County Health Department located at 170 4th St., NW, Pulaski. The event is free. Registration is requested, but not required.

Women of all ages are invited to enjoy light refreshments, free gifts, and women’s health information. During this event, low income, uninsured, and under insured women who are 40 to 64 years of age may apply for the Every Woman’s Life (EWL) program or free mammograms through the Carilion Clinic grant awarded by The Greater Roanoke Valley Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the cure. In addition to informing women of the importance of regular screenings, EWL provides free mammograms, clinical breast exams, Pap test, and pelvic exams to women who qualify.

“Women’s Afternoon Out” is sponsored by the American Cancer Society, the Carilion Clinic Every Woman’s Life Program, Lewis Gale Regional Health System, New River Health District, and the Pulaski County Health Department.
