Office of the Chief Medical Examiner Seeks Public’s Help

August 5, 2014

(Richmond, Va.) — The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) needs the public’s help to identify several deceased individuals found in Central and Eastern Virginia between 1981 and 2003.

To help with the identification, the OCME has computer-generated photographs showing how these individuals likely looked at the time of their deaths, based on the available evidence.

Recently, a computer-generated photograph of an unidentified individual found in Newport News was circulated throughout the community. The photograph did generate additional information for police, allowing them to positively identify the person (Case #1).

These photographs also have been entered into the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUS), a web-based computer search engine funded by the National Institute of Justice for matching missing and unidentified persons. They can be viewed by their NamUs identification numbers at www.identifyus.org.

Anyone with any information about the identity of any of these individuals (Cases #2- #8) is asked to call:

  • In Norfolk, OCME Investigator Paul Yoakam, 757-683-8366, or
  • In the Richmond area, OCME Investigators Bridget Kinnier, 804-786-6056, or Lara Frame-Newell, 804-786-3174.
