Resources are available for individuals without insurance coverage. \u201cConnecting with a primary care provider is essential for families, especially those with young children, as it ensures regular health monitoring, vaccinations, and preventive care,\u201d said Richmond and Henrico Health Districts Child Health Advisor Becca Bruhl. \u201cA trusting relationship with a primary care provider allows for coordinated care, chronic disease management, and timely support for both physical and mental health concerns.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>RHHD recommends the following resources for finding providers that match your insurance status.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Visit <a href=\"http:\/\/virginia.gov\/richmond-city\/primary-care-richmond-and-henrico-health-districts\/\">rhhd.gov\/connect-pc<\/a> for a list of primary care providers in Richmond and Henrico that accept Medicare, Medicaid, and patients without insurance. Some of these providers also accept private insurance.<\/li>\n<li>Search for local physicians that accept Medicaid at <a href=\"https:\/\/vamedicaid.vaxix.net\/Search\">vamedicaid.vaxix.net\/Search<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>See RHHD\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/richmond-city\/school-health-hub\/\">School Health Hub<\/a> for information about school-required immunizations and physicals, school health resources, and much more.<\/li>\n<li>RHHD offers the following tips for community members making primary care appointments.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Verify that your health insurance is accepted by the provider before your visit.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If you do not have health insurance, visit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/richmond-city\/primary-care-richmond-and-henrico-health-districts\/\">rhhd.gov\/connect-pc<\/a> to find options for patients without insurance.<\/li>\n<li>Bring your insurance card to your appointment if you have insurance.<\/li>\n<li>Bring current medications and vaccine records to your appointment.<\/li>\n<li>Minors should usually bring a parent or legal guardian to their appointments.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Participants in the Richmond and Henrico 2024 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/richmond-city\/cha\/\">Community Health Assessment<\/a> named \u2018Access to Health Care\u2019 as a top concern.
