The application period will remain open until <strong>March 30, 2025. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The HEF seeks to fill gaps in funding and resources for vital, innovative, and impactful initiatives that serve the Richmond City community. Richmond-based single organizations and collaboratives providing services in the following health disparity focus areas\u2014along with other emergent health outcomes where Richmond\u2019s populations have disparate burdens\u2014are all eligible to apply:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Access to healthcare and health education resources<\/li>\n<li>Chronic disease and underlying health conditions<\/li>\n<li>Food access and security<\/li>\n<li>Maternal and child health<\/li>\n<li>Mental and behavioral health<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Applications may be accessed through the <a href=\"https:\/\/redcap.vdh.virginia.gov\/redcap\/surveys\/?s=Y39NRKTXWXDM3CNR\"><strong>REDCap survey platform<\/strong><\/a> or by visiting the Richmond and Henrico Public Health Foundation (RHPHF) website: <a href=\"https:\/\/rhphf.org\/health-equity-fund\/\"><strong>https:\/\/rhphf.org\/health-equity-fund\/<\/strong><\/a>. The HEF will host an optional <a href=\"https:\/\/events.gcc.teams.microsoft.com\/event\/9866aaab-881d-42cf-b5cb-10373e49b28c@620ae5a9-4ec1-4fa0-8641-5d9f386c7309\"><strong>virtual information session<\/strong><\/a> for those organizations interested in applying at 12 p.m., Wednesday, March 12. Richmond and Henrico Health Districts (RHHD) provides updates about the HEF through its monthly <a href=\"https:\/\/rchd.us13.list-manage.com\/subscribe?u=ca391fd836680b3b7c4edc5ab&amp;id=812c7533b9\"><strong>newsletter<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Funding decisions are made by RHHD and RHPHF in collaboration with a Community Advisory Committee (CAC). The CAC is a group of local community members with a combination of professional and lived experience with health disparities. The CAC evaluates partner organizations and identifies priority gaps to fill with HEF resources.<\/p>\n<p>In October 2021, Richmond City Council voted to establish the first-ever Health Equity Fund (HEF) in the City of Richmond through an initial investment of $5 million from federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds. With the support and leadership of City Administration and RHHD, the HEF was established under the RHPHF, the nonprofit arm of RHHD. Since then, the HEF has selected 36 partners for funding that serve Richmond residents experiencing deep health disparities and the longstanding impacts of racism.
